Apple has went fast, very fast with the iPad. In less than 9 months With all eyes on an iPad Mini, Phil Schiller went on stage to first reveal the new generation iPad with a 9.7″ screen. Apple has been known to refresh iPhone and iPad models on a yearly cycle, clearly that is now broken. We would speculate that Apple wanted to avoid competition jumping over them in the tablet market and hence the iPad 4th gen shows up so soon. Here are some major changes that comes with the 4th Gen Apple iPad:
- Updated support for global LTE coverage. We guess this comes from the iPhone 5
- Apple A6X processor. That’s a step forward even from the iPhone 5. So 2x CPU and 2x graphics compared to 3rd gen iPad
- Updated Imaging capabilities on the processor
- Lightening Port, expected upgrade
- Sprint in US as a carrier for the new iPad 4th gen
- 10 hours battery life
A lot on the 4th gen iPad remains the same. The retina display, camera resolution, design (well apart from the new USB dock) and the colours it ships in.
